Tactical 16 Signs GT Cleveland for
“Mother’s Day:  The Courage & Sacrifice of the 3rd Battalion 25th Marines”

This poignant, personal story traces the story of “Lucky Lima,” the hardest-hit unit of the Iraq War.

Colorado Springs, Colo. – – Tactical 16 Publishing announced today the signing of GT Cleveland for Mother’s Day:  The Courage & Sacrifice of the 3rd Battalion 25th Marines.

Mother's Day: the Courage & Sacrifice of the 3rd Battalion 25th Marines by author Taylor Cleveland. Tactical 16 Publishing. In his debut book, Cleveland gives a first-hand account of his time with the 3/25, known as “Lucky Lima,” in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His book is one of only a handful written telling the unit’s story. Cleveland’s book can be purchased at T16, the publisher’s new book buying website:  https://t16books.com/.

In 2005, Cleveland, a Navy Corpman (medic), deployed to Iraq with 179 fellow Reservists as part of 3/25, an Ohio-based Marine Reserve unit. After five months of relative quiet, enemy forces began launching attack after attack on the unit.

By the time the battalion went home in November 2005, it had lost more men than any other single unit in the war. Forty-six Marines and two Navy Corpsmen were killed in action during the unit’s roughly nine-month activation.

Taylor Cleveland author of Mother's Day: The Courage & Sacrifice of the 3rd Battalion 25th Marines. Tactical 16 Publishing.“These young men weren’t Special Operators or even full-time soldiers,” said Cleveland, who served with the battalion from 2002 to 2006. “They were Reservists who in their civilian lives worked as teachers, nurses, police officers, paramedics, and Home Depot workers. This is a story about traveling from civilian to combatant in the worst possible scenario and back. My goal is to memorialize the men that I served with:  who they were, what they did and what it cost them.”

Cleveland, a police detective in Ohio with 25 years as a uniformed officer, plans to donate all proceeds from his book to Feed Our Vets, a non-profit providing food assistance to veterans and their families.

“GT’s story is so emotional and engaging,” said Chris Schafer, CEO at Tactical 16 Publishing. “His story provides deep insight into what happened to ‘Lucky Lima’ in Iraq, and is a tremendous tribute to the men who sacrificed everything to defend our freedoms.”

Taylor Cleveland was born and raised in Conneaut, Ohio, a small lakeshore community outside of Cleveland that his Nine Times Great Grand Father founded in 1796. He currently works there as a Police Detective.

After September 11th, Taylor volunteered as a United States Navy Reserves Corpsman. He deployed to the Al-Anbar Province of Iraq in 2005 as the senior line company corpsman for India Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment.

He has been married to his wife, Louise, for 23 years. They have three children. Taylor is an avid supporter of Feed Our Vets, a non-profit organization working to feed Veterans in need in Ashtabula County, Ohio. All of the proceeds from his book will go to Feed Our Vets to support their mission.

Tactical 16 Signs Spencer Anderson for “Survive The Night”

Step back in time as WWII rages and a family faces down the worst of circumstances.

Colorado Springs, Colo. – – Tactical 16 Publishing announced today the signing of Spencer Anderson for Survive the Night.

Survive The Night by author Spencer Anderson. Tactical 16 Publishing.Themes of survival, fear, loss, faith, and comradery are woven into this historical fiction narrative set during WWII as the Third Reich stood on the verge of military defeat.

Anderson’s story begins in January 1944 and follows fictional character, Gus Bodine, a 20-year-old who joined the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B-17 pilot, and Addie, his wife back home. Bodine quickly finds himself going from living the American dream to being shot down and becoming a prisoner of war forced to endure the 86-day “Death March” across Germany during the harshest winter ever recorded in the country.

SS guards tortured more than 10,000 American and allied prisoners along with concentration camp prisoners from 1944 to 1945 during a forced trek through 900 miles of mountainous forests and war-torn lowlands in Germany. POWs faced scurvy, typhus, dysentery, hypothermia, starvation and often death during the long, unforgiving trek.

“My book traces the horrendous march that took so many lives and left many families back home dreading a knock on the door,” said Anderson, an 8-year Air Force Vietnam War veteran. “Not to worry, though, the story is full of laughter, tender moments, happy outcomes, and the antics of Highway, the dog.

Spencer Anderson is a U.S. Air Force Vietnam war veteran, former pilot, teacher and counselor, and an honorary Colonel in the Commemorative Air Force. His passion for aviation and aviation history is clearly seen in his writing.  Spencer is dedicated to keeping alive the legacy of the patriots who chose to fly and fight for our grateful nation in its most trying times.

Spencer Anderson is married to the love of his life Carole, and they live in St. George, Utah. For more information on Spencer’s books, www.warbirdtales.com.

Tactical 16 Signs Deborah A. Spencer for “The First Enterprize: A Legendary Little Ship With a Storied Name”

Spencer traces the full story of this historic ship from its conception and construction in 1799 to its ultimate demise in 1823, when she stranded and broke up on Little Curacao Island in the West Indies.

Deborah Spencer, Author, The First Enterprise. Tactical 16 Publishing.Colorado Springs, Colo. – – Tactical 16 Publishing announced today the signing of Deborah A. Spencer for The First Enterprize:  A Legendary Little Ship with a Storied Name.

The First Enterprise by Author Deborah Spencer. Tactical 16 Publishing.“History enthusiasts and those with a naval or military background are sure to be immersed in the untold story of this famous ship – a history that includes wars and conflicts in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean and colorful commanders,” said Spencer, a life-long history enthusiast. “I’ve combined a compelling narrative with ship images, battle scenes, portraits of captains and their commodores, along with maps to draw readers into the story.”

Spencer’s narrative follows the ship’s beginnings as tensions grow with France during the Quasi-War with France through a time period where the Barbary State of Tripoli declares war on the United States to the War of 1812. The story culminates with tales of piracy in the Caribbean when bandits preyed on merchant ships and the Enterprize was charged with conducting anti-piracy operations. The word “enterprise,” or “enterprize as it was generally spelled long ago, has been defined as embarking on new ventures with boldness and energy.

“Deborah’s account is such a great read and fills a huge void in the historical record of a ship that is pivotal to our country’s story,” said Chris Schafer, CEO at Tactical 16 Publishing. “Get ready to be thrilled by her detailed descriptions of the battles waged and the commanders who fought so bravely at sea.”

Spencer, who lives in Florida and is the chief technology officer at an advertising technology company, says she has always had a particular fascination for ships name Enterprise. She is originally from Huntsville, Alabama.

Tactical 16 Signs Retired Army Staff Sgt. Ward Mayfield for “Lessons from Uncle Sam”

Embark on a grueling journey alongside bomb disposal teams facing off with death on the battlefield.

Colorado Springs, Colo. – – Tactical 16 Publishing announced today the signing of Ward Mayfield for Lessons from Uncle Sam.

In his debut book, Mayfield transports his audience from the comfort and safety of their lives to the raw and unpredictable cruelty of war, death, and destruction.
His story both enlightens and uplifts readers as he goes back to his time in war zones as a bomb disposal operator in a battle of wits with the enemy where losing could have meant death. He makes a conscious choice to move forward with his life in spite of the tragedies he has had to face.

“This is my story of what it’s like to survive an explosion and go back to work the next day, over and over, until it physically became impossible to continue,” said Mayfield, who earned two Purple Heart medals, an Army Commendation for Valor, and a Bronze Star. “I had to come to grips with going from powerful, agile, and intelligent to slow and sometimes very weak and confused after so many IED hits. And now, I’m finally at ease, even proud of, the mess I am today because I earned my scars and lessons. I want my words to help others who suffer.”

Now retired and living in the greater Salt Lake City area in Utah, Mayfield continually looks for ways to serve others and give back in his community.

“Ward put his life on the line, and this book is a true testament to both his and his bomb removal teams’ strength and determination in the face of tremendous odds,” said Chris Schafer, CEO at Tactical 16 Publishing. “His courage and dedication on the battlefield and today are such great reminders that there are men and women like him everywhere putting their lives at risk to protect us and our way of life.”

Mayfield served as a combat engineer twice in Iraq and once in Afghanistan, completing more than 300 missions clearing routes, and detecting and removing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from roadways for safe travel by U.S. forces.

Now retired and living in the greater Salt Lake City area in Utah, Mayfield continually looks for ways to serve others and give back in his community.
