SELLER’S NOTE

With its colorful illustrations and easy-to-ready text, Police Officer Mommy’s target audience is children from 2 to 8 years old who have a police parent or are just curious about police officers and what they do while on duty.

“This story follows a police officer’s day through the eyes of a child,” said Anaya, who served in the Army and as a police officer in California and Washington state. “I have a lot of insight into many different aspects of the story as the daughter of a police officer, a medically retired police officer myself, and the wife of a current police officer with three children.”

Anaya’s first book, Policeman Daddy, paints a memorable day-in-the-life picture of a little boy and his police officer dad who watches over his city night after night.

“Leah’s new book is so relevant-one out of 8 local police officers serving nationwide are women according to U.S. Department of Justice statistics,” said Chris Schafer, CEO at Tactical 16 Publishing. “This book really showcases the day-to-day life of a police officer and her family so well and in a way that young children will absolutely love and want to read over and over!”

Anaya currently works as a staff writer at Law Enforcement Today and is a peer advocate and peer spousal support advocate for the Wounded Blue and Serve and Protect, two non-profit first-responder organizations serving police officers, their families, and police departments nationwide.

“Leah’s book sheds so much light on the life and sacrifices of police officers and their families,” said Chris Schafer, CEO at Tactical 16. “Her service in the military and as a police officer adds so much depth and authenticity to this story. I’m predicting young children will really enjoy this book and want to read it over and over again!”

When she isn’t writing, Anaya loves to read, watch baseball and hockey, and spend time gardening and with her family on their 5 acres of land.

In her debut children’s book, Anaya paints a memorable day-in-the-life picture from sunrise to bedtime of a police officer through his small son’s viewpoint. Young readers follow the little boy as he watches his daddy get ready to serve, goes to the police station for a visit, sits in a patrol car, and thinks about how much he misses his dad as bedtime approaches.

“I wrote this book to help children feel comfort over missing their police parent and help them understand what their parent goes through during a typical day at work,” said Anaya, who served in the Army and as a police officer in California and Washington state. “This book is also entertaining for kids who love police officers and are curious about what they do while on duty.”

Policeman Daddy, especially appealing to children from 2 to 8 years old, features colorful illustrations and easy-to-read text. Anaya was able to draw upon her experiences as the daughter of a police officer, a medically retired police officer herself, and the wife of a current police officer with three children to make this story relatable and detailed.
