The Author’s Arc
Book Coaching Provided by
Jenny Watz
Developed in partnership with Jenny Watz, a Tactical 16 Publishing editor, The Author’s Arc is a tiered book coaching suite designed to meet authors exactly where they are. Whether an author needs to assess manuscript readiness, rebuild from the foundation up, or push through a stall in the middle of revision, each tier provides targeted, contained support with clear deliverables and defined boundaries.
Program Objectives
The Author’s Arc is designed to:
- Identify structural, conceptual, and narrative issues before they become editorial emergencies
- Establish a clear, logical manuscript architecture for both fiction and nonfiction authors
- Prevent narrative drift, scope creep, and voice inconsistency
- Support writing momentum and resolve resistance without open-ended coaching
- Deliver cleaner, more cohesive manuscripts ready for the editing phase
- The end goal is higher-quality manuscripts, fewer rewrites, and more predictable timelines.
Tiers and Getting Started
Authors may select any tier individually or choose the full Author’s Arc package. Each tier is a standalone engagement with a specific focus, defined format, and clear deliverable. The Analyst is often the recommended entry point for authors who are unsure of where they stand, but any tier may be engaged independently based on the author’s current need.
- Select the tier or package that best fits your current stage
- Submit your manuscript or chapter outline for review (as applicable)
- Schedule your first session or await your written assessment
The Analyst
Manuscript Evaluation & Readiness Assessment
The Analyst provides an honest, thorough evaluation of a draft manuscript before it enters the editing phase. Many authors believe they are ready for editing when what they actually need first is a clear-eyed assessment of where they stand.
The Analyst answers that question — and maps the path forward. It can be selected as a standalone service or used as the entry point into one or more additional tiers.
Benefits include:
- Written manuscript assessment
- One 60-minute debrief call
- Revision priority list

The Architect
Book Positioning, Structure & Chapter Logic
The Architect is a focused, two-week engagement for authors who need to build — or rebuild — the structural foundation of their manuscript. Whether writing fiction or nonfiction, this tier ensures the blueprint is sound before any further writing or revision takes place.
Sessions are longer to allow space for the strategic conversations that structural work requires.
Benefits include:
- Two 90-minute sessions
- Telegram messaging support
- Structural framework or chapter outline delivered at close

The Alchemist
Writing Momentum, Problem-Spot Resolution & Narrative Consistency
The Alchemist is a 30-day momentum sprint for authors who are in the middle of writing or revision and have hit a wall.
Sessions are responsive — built around wherever the author is stuck. This tier is particularly valuable for authors who stall in the messy middle, struggle with consistency across chapters, or find themselves rewriting the same material without making progress. The 30-day Alchemist option creates urgency and accountability without becoming open-ended.
Benefits include:
- Four 60-minute sessions
- Telegram messaging support

The Author’s Arc: Full Package
All Three Tiers Combined Into One Integrated, End-to-End Engagement
When an author engages all three tiers together, the work becomes more fluid and more efficient. The assessment informs the structural work; the structural work anchors the revision sprint.
Rather than moving through tiers sequentially with pauses between engagements, the full Author’s Arc package allows for a more seamless, integrated process — typically completed within six to eight weeks.
Benefits include:
- All the benefits from the other 3 tiers

The Author’s Arc is built on a simple premise:
The writing process deserves the same structured, professional support as any other stage of publishing.
By meeting authors where they are — before they reach editing — we protect the timeline, the budget, and the book.
Tactical 16 Publishing specializes in working with authors in the armed forces, police, fire, and rescue communities.
