Tactical 16 Signs GT Cleveland for
“Mother’s Day:  The Courage & Sacrifice of the 3rd Battalion 25th Marines”

This poignant, personal story traces the story of “Lucky Lima,” the hardest-hit unit of the Iraq War.

Colorado Springs, Colo. – – Tactical 16 Publishing announced today the signing of GT Cleveland for Mother’s Day:  The Courage & Sacrifice of the 3rd Battalion 25th Marines.

Mother's Day: the Courage & Sacrifice of the 3rd Battalion 25th Marines by author Taylor Cleveland. Tactical 16 Publishing. In his debut book, Cleveland gives a first-hand account of his time with the 3/25, known as “Lucky Lima,” in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His book is one of only a handful written telling the unit’s story. Cleveland’s book can be purchased at T16, the publisher’s new book buying website:  https://t16books.com/.

In 2005, Cleveland, a Navy Corpman (medic), deployed to Iraq with 179 fellow Reservists as part of 3/25, an Ohio-based Marine Reserve unit. After five months of relative quiet, enemy forces began launching attack after attack on the unit.

By the time the battalion went home in November 2005, it had lost more men than any other single unit in the war. Forty-six Marines and two Navy Corpsmen were killed in action during the unit’s roughly nine-month activation.

Taylor Cleveland author of Mother's Day: The Courage & Sacrifice of the 3rd Battalion 25th Marines. Tactical 16 Publishing.“These young men weren’t Special Operators or even full-time soldiers,” said Cleveland, who served with the battalion from 2002 to 2006. “They were Reservists who in their civilian lives worked as teachers, nurses, police officers, paramedics, and Home Depot workers. This is a story about traveling from civilian to combatant in the worst possible scenario and back. My goal is to memorialize the men that I served with:  who they were, what they did and what it cost them.”

Cleveland, a police detective in Ohio with 25 years as a uniformed officer, plans to donate all proceeds from his book to Feed Our Vets, a non-profit providing food assistance to veterans and their families.

“GT’s story is so emotional and engaging,” said Chris Schafer, CEO at Tactical 16 Publishing. “His story provides deep insight into what happened to ‘Lucky Lima’ in Iraq, and is a tremendous tribute to the men who sacrificed everything to defend our freedoms.”

Taylor Cleveland was born and raised in Conneaut, Ohio, a small lakeshore community outside of Cleveland that his Nine Times Great Grand Father founded in 1796. He currently works there as a Police Detective.

After September 11th, Taylor volunteered as a United States Navy Reserves Corpsman. He deployed to the Al-Anbar Province of Iraq in 2005 as the senior line company corpsman for India Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment.

He has been married to his wife, Louise, for 23 years. They have three children. Taylor is an avid supporter of Feed Our Vets, a non-profit organization working to feed Veterans in need in Ashtabula County, Ohio. All of the proceeds from his book will go to Feed Our Vets to support their mission.

Tactical 16 Signs John Morrin for “Riddles in the Dark: The Never-Ending Battle”

Raw, unfiltered poems detail the pain behind mental health struggles veterans face daily.

Colorado Springs, Colo. – – Tactical 16 Publishing announced today the signing of John Morrin II for Riddles in the Dark:  The Never-Ending Battle.

In his debut book of poems, the Marine Corps veteran draws upon his struggles with PTSD to shed light on the darkness that lies within us all and invisible wounds that many veterans cope with daily. Morrin’s book can be purchased at T16, the publisher’s new book buying website:  https://t16books.com/.

Riddles in the Dark by author John Morrin. Tactical 16 Publishing.“My goal is to give readers a book they can relate to in hopes that they can gain strength and feel supported,” said Morrin, who joined the military when he was 19 years old and deployed overseas 5 times. “I’ve weaved images and words together to reveal the pain and emotion that floods straight into readers’ minds and challenge them to face hard truths about themselves and society.”

John Morrin author of Riddles in the Dark. Tactical 16 Publishing. The author incorporates psychology, history, and present-day circumstances into his poems to encourage and empower others to start their inward journey towards healing, growth, and happiness. Vivid pictures accompany the poems throughout the book.

Morrin’s work is especially relevant in light of recent studies by the Department of Defense. According to a October 2022 DoD report, suicide rates for Active Component Service members have gradually increased since 2011, although the 2021 rate is lower than in 2020.

“John’s poems are so important with the continuing mental health crisis our veterans face while serving and after leaving the military,” said Chris Schafer, CEO at Tactical 16 Publishing. “The personal and deeply thoughtful book that John has created provides a real catharsis to others experiencing difficulties of their own, and helps readers know they’re not alone.”

Morrin currently lives in Ohio with his wife, who he credits with being the most instrumental part of his recovery, and their three dogs.

Why Am I Writing?

Why Am I Writing?

The Two Worlds of Becoming an Author

So, you want to be an Author?

Writing is putting the stories in our head into a format where we can share it with others, or simply keep it for our own enjoyment later.   There are two distinct parts to being an author that do not necessarily apply to just being a writer.

Writers enjoy the artistic side of the craft. They tell their stories; they create worlds and characters.  They evoke emotion and imagination in their readers.  Writing is truly an art.

Why am I writing? by author KA Brown. Tactical 16 Publishing. As such, writing can take many directions, some even outside the control of the writer.  Many times, once characters or the outline is created, other ideas, concepts and direction will emerge beyond the writer’s control.  This isn’t just specific to fiction writers; nonfiction writers are many times afflicted with this same hematoma of original ideas.

This only becomes an issue as we decide that we want our works to be available to others. Becoming an author, means getting published.

Publishing is not just sharing your artistic endeavor with others.  Publishing is the other side of the writing profession.  Publishing is the business of writing.  If you are not ready to start a business, then you probably are not ready to publish.  There are many aspects to the business side once you decide that it is the direction you will pursue.

First, once you decide that you will publish, you have an obligation to put forth the best version of your work that you possibly can.  This means editing and rewriting.

Editing and rewriting is how you polish your manuscript to make the words have the greatest possible effect on the reader.

Second, you need a true cover design. The cover is the first opportunity to sell your written work. It is the quiet salesperson who has the job of cold calling potential readers.

Third, takes us to publication, the physical act of creating a book. This article isn’t to suggest one version of publishing over another. I will only say this; Publishing is how you get the product your business will sell. Choose wisely. And like any business opportunity, do your homework before you make a decision.

Finally, the biggest expense of the business side of becoming an Author. Marketing. This is how you expand your brand and the public’s knowledge of the existence of your book.

Why am I writing? by author KA Brown. Tactical 16 Publishing. There are all kinds of ways to market your book. Hopefully you have a publisher that will develop a plan with you and help implement it in a way that gets the most bang for your buck.  Ultimately, this is still a business, and you must remember to treat it that way as you move forward to your hopefully inevitable success.

Tactical 16 Signs Spencer Anderson for “Survive The Night”

Step back in time as WWII rages and a family faces down the worst of circumstances.

Colorado Springs, Colo. – – Tactical 16 Publishing announced today the signing of Spencer Anderson for Survive the Night.

Survive The Night by author Spencer Anderson. Tactical 16 Publishing.Themes of survival, fear, loss, faith, and comradery are woven into this historical fiction narrative set during WWII as the Third Reich stood on the verge of military defeat.

Anderson’s story begins in January 1944 and follows fictional character, Gus Bodine, a 20-year-old who joined the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B-17 pilot, and Addie, his wife back home. Bodine quickly finds himself going from living the American dream to being shot down and becoming a prisoner of war forced to endure the 86-day “Death March” across Germany during the harshest winter ever recorded in the country.

SS guards tortured more than 10,000 American and allied prisoners along with concentration camp prisoners from 1944 to 1945 during a forced trek through 900 miles of mountainous forests and war-torn lowlands in Germany. POWs faced scurvy, typhus, dysentery, hypothermia, starvation and often death during the long, unforgiving trek.

“My book traces the horrendous march that took so many lives and left many families back home dreading a knock on the door,” said Anderson, an 8-year Air Force Vietnam War veteran. “Not to worry, though, the story is full of laughter, tender moments, happy outcomes, and the antics of Highway, the dog.

Spencer Anderson is a U.S. Air Force Vietnam war veteran, former pilot, teacher and counselor, and an honorary Colonel in the Commemorative Air Force. His passion for aviation and aviation history is clearly seen in his writing.  Spencer is dedicated to keeping alive the legacy of the patriots who chose to fly and fight for our grateful nation in its most trying times.

Spencer Anderson is married to the love of his life Carole, and they live in St. George, Utah. For more information on Spencer’s books, www.warbirdtales.com.
